Heart Brain Coherence

The brain and the heart are deeply connected.

The brain and the heart are closely linked. Medical research shows that many neuron pathways run from the heart to the brain and vice versa; signals are constantly going back and forth. More signals go from the heart to the brain than the other way around. Together, the heart and brain communicate with the rest of your body.

Depending on the emotions you feel, these signals are harmonious or chaotic, and so is the communication with the rest of your body. Stress causes chaotic signals; you feel rushed or anxious, and your body responds to this by producing all kinds of hormones, including stress hormones. With this, your body is in a state of high alertness and ready to fight or flight. That’s a good thing when you are in danger, but not if you are in this state regularly because of your work or family issues.

It’s easy to break this pattern by doing a simple exercise: Heart Brain Coherence. This exercise takes a few minutes and lasts for hours. It synchronizes the signals between your heart and your brain, and therefore, it also has long-term positive effects on the stress hormones and metabolic processes in your body. Your immune system gets a boost, your emotions become calmer and more positive, and your intuition is reinforced.

The greatest gift you can give yourself right now is spending 3-5 minutes daily doing the Heart Brain Coherence, for example, just before you get up (you can set your alarm clock to snooze one more time and do the HBC instead of snoozing), or in the evening before you fall asleep.
